Introduction: Johnathan McKeen-Chaff
First allow me to introduce myself; I am Johnathan McKeen-Chaff. In 2015 after graduating from Pasco High School I had the sure intent to continue my education to be a neurosurgeon; however, I felt led by God to spend time on the local missions field. This is why I turned down multiple scholarships for my pre-med degree and pursued inner city ministry in Gadsden, AL. I went with two purposes, to serve and to learn. I surely did both!
While in Gadsden I lived in a transition home where we helped men get off the streets and into “normal life” (whatever that is). In December of 2015 I was invited to serve as an interim youth minister at a church in Gadsden. I reluctantly took this temporary position to teach youth, some my age, about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I served this church in this capacity until July of 2016 when I was asked to step down to make room for a full time youth minister.
After returning home to Dade City, FL I decided that I needed to find a way to serve God and form my ministry for Him. That is why I looked into forming Amelia Foundation; but giving away money doesn’t pay well. This is why I searched for jobs in Wesley Chapel, FL and began teaching piano and voice at a local studio. In no time I was a leading teacher at this studio and was educating 60+ students a week 1 on 1.
After teaching at this studio for one year I decided to start McKeen-Chaff Music. I launched McKeen-Chaff Music on July 21, 2020 with about $150 in my bank account and zero students because of my non-compete contract that didn’t allow me to take my students with me. Between 2017 and 2019 I grew this teaching business through the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce and the North Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce. I worked diligently to develop this dream and have done fairly well.
I have begun building a team to fuel the dream. The mission has not changed, however the vision has. We have moved from providing only music lessons to now providing music lessons and academic tutoring. We are an education company. In early 2020 we signed a lease to open in the Krate portion of the Grove in Wesley Chapel, FL.
I am a follower of Christ, a servant of the Kingdom of God first. Then I am a husband to my beautiful wife, Lexie. I am also an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of Covenant Company, LLC and all of the brands under that umbrella.
It’s nice to meet you, and I hope you are blessed by the content of my blog posts.
